How to Play Ludo

Objective

The goal is to move all four of your tokens from your starting yard to the home triangle (center of the board) before any other player.

Game Setup

• Players: 2-4 players, each controlling one color (red, blue, green, or yellow).
• Board: A square board with a cross-shaped path, four starting yards, and a central home triangle.
• Tokens: Each player has four tokens, starting in their respective yard.
• Dice: One six-sided die is used to determine movement.

Gameplay

1. Each player takes turns rolling the die.
2. To move a token out of the yard to the starting square, roll a 6. You get another roll after a 6.
3. Move a token clockwise along the path by the number shown on the die.
4. If you land on an opponent’s token, it’s sent back to their yard (captured).
5. Tokens in the home path (color-specific final stretch) are safe from capture.
6. Reach the home triangle with an exact roll to place a token there.
7. The first player to get all four tokens to the home triangle wins.

Special Rules

• Rolling a 6: Grants an extra turn and allows moving a token out of the yard.
• Safe Squares: Starting squares and home path squares are safe from capture.
• Multiple Tokens: You can choose which token to move if multiple are in play.
• Blocking: Two tokens of the same color on the same square block opponents from passing or capturing.

Winning

The first player to move all four tokens to the home triangle wins. In team play (4 players), teams win when all tokens of partnered colors reach the home triangle.
